Rotator Cuff Injuries
The rotator cuff muscles are the deep muscles of the shoulder joint. The tendons of these muscles envelope the shoulder like a 'cuff' and contribute to its stability.
Minor damage to the rotator cuff tendons can lead to a symptom called shoulder impingement. This can be treated with cortisone injections, which are somewhat controversial as they are very good at relieving
the impingement but don't help the underlying tendon damage.
