Shin and calf injuries

The shin and calf can be affected by a variety of injuries, some of which are listed to the left.

One of the most common is the corked calf . Fortunately this is not a serious injury and usually settles down within 1-2 weeks, although on very rare occasions, it can cause a compartment syndrome.

Calf strains and shin splints (also known as medial tibial stress syndrome) are also common.
