Hip range of motion is reduced in athletes with osteitis pubis
A featured paper (available for free full text download on this site) from the March 2005 edition of the J Sci Med Sport details further the relationship between hip range deficits and osteitis pubis. This case-control study by Verrall et al. shows that athletes with osteitis pubis (verified by MRI and hence independent of hip joint pathology) have reduced hip range. This finding, which has been previously suspected by not published, suggests greater stress transfer to the pubic symphysis from hip movement reductions.
