Oram cleared of lumbar stress fracture

With opening bowler Shane Bond still out recovering from a lumar stress fracture, the New Zealand team were crossing its fingers that recent star all-rounder Jacob Oram was not subject to the same fate.

Read more at cricinfo.com. Cleared of a stress fracture, medical staff have reported it as a stress reaction or 'hot spot'. He will be rested for a couple of weeks from bowling, and will be systematically reintroduced to full time bowling. While New Zealand would love him back in time for the One Day Series against Australia starting February 19, their approach is likely to remain on the conservative side to ensure he is 100% fit for the Test Series in March.

Daniel Vettori, who has also been the victim of lumbar stress fractures in his career, recently sustained only soft tissue damage to his back and will be available for the Australian series. For international cricket injury updates and article links visit our cricket injuries page.
